He prefers the part nobody documented.
In 2021–2022 he began taking existing programs apart. By 2024: Python, Telegram, hidden identifiers and asynchronous operations. An ordinary interface rarely shows him enough.
A machine that jams still needs an explanation. “It just does that” will not do.

Some things disappear very neatly.
He keeps the before.
He keeps the versions that were meant to disappear. Not out of sentiment. The first sentence is usually the one that tells on you.
Nothing is quite deleted from the story.
Then he started teaching machines to remember.
Not just what was said.
Who said it.
He teaches machines to keep a little more than the conversation. Names, habits, the pause before an answer.
The result is useful. That is not the same as comforting.
Two instructions, both important.
He wants the mechanism, the source, the repeatable answer. He also leaves one door without a label.
A note from the person nearby.
He is not as quiet as the pictures.
He is sharper than the pictures suggest. Sometimes funny at the wrong moment. Sometimes honest enough to make the room uncomfortable.
He notices false certainty. He also notices the small accidental things: a slip, a strange phrase, the pause before a person decides what they feel.
Another hand, in the margin.
He says it does not matter.
He has opened it again.
He can spend an evening explaining why a thing will not work. Then he stays up making it work. I have stopped asking which part was the explanation.
The record is incomplete.
He changes the rules.
Then checks what remembers.
The rooms, the programs, the photographs, the things that remember after they were told to forget. They keep the same distance from him.
He left the light on.
That was not an invitation.
Some people leave memories behind.
